Ski Utah This Year

Ski Utah During Covid

Don’t Let COVID-19 Keep You From Taking The Slopes In Utah This Ski Season

It’s that time of year again when the air gets colder and the snow starts to fall.  For some, it’s their favorite season, Ski season.  All across the country and the world, skiers and snowboarders are getting their gear ready to take on the slopes of their favorite mountain.

As indicated by a Travel+Leisure article, after the most extended ski resort closure in Utah’s history, all of the state’s ski areas are now open for everyone to enjoy the "best snow on earth." On March 16 — when Utah resorts closed due to the coronavirus pandemic — ski areas began to carefully establish plans to make the 2020-2021 ski season as safe and socially distant as possible. All ski areas have established cleaning and disinfection strategies, physical distancing guidelines, and strict mask requirements.  Utah has always been a favorite ski destination — most resorts are within an hour of the airport, the terrain is accommodating to every skier, and each season there’s an average of 40 feet of light and powdery snow.

Here are some of the best resorts to stay when visiting Utah for ski season as noted by Planetware:

Snowbird - is one of the most scenic ski resorts in Utah, with sharp mountain peaks that genuinely make you feel like you are in the mountains. Unique among Utah resorts, Snowbird has a 125-passenger tram, which provides access to almost all the mountain areas via one lift. It also has a tunnel through the mountain, which skiers can move through on a conveyor belt that serves as a "ski-through" mining museum.

Deer Valley - offers a skiing experience like no other in Utah, with first-class facilities, a right mix of terrain for all levels of skiers, strong snowmaking capabilities, and staff that go out of their way to make sure your skiing experience is fun. This skiers-only resort is just two miles up the road from downtown Park City and about 45 minutes from Salt Lake City. Although it is mainly known as a family resort, the mountain has a surprisingly varied terrain, which will keep even the most advanced skiers occupied. More than 100 runs are spread out over 2,000 acres and six mountains.

Park City Mountain Resort -  is a top choice for skiers and boarders coming to Utah due to its extensive terrain, recently expanded snowmaking capabilities, fantastic terrain parks, excellent après ski infrastructure and atmosphere, and the town of Park City at the base of the slopes.

Park City Mountain Resort is one of the largest ski resorts in Utah, second now to Powder Mountain. It has 7,300 acres of skiable terrain, and any skier level can find what they are looking for at this resort. On average, the resort receives nearly 30 feet of snow each season.

Powder Mountain – is just an hour north of Salt Lake City, with a full range of skiing options, including cat skiing and backcountry terrain. With two new lifts in 2017, Powder Mountain became the largest ski resort in North America in terms of skiable terrain, with 8,464 acres. This includes about 3,800 acres accessible by nine lifts, and the rest reached by heading into the backcountry on a Snowcat Powder Safari.

Now that you know where to stay and got your ski gear, ready to conquer some of the world's best mountains.
