The government of Costa Rica has implemented the following travel insurance requirements for international travelers to comply with before entering the country.
All travelers visiting Costa Rica must fill out an electronic epidemiological health pass form before departure. As of August 1, 2021, vaccinated travelers are no longer required to have travel insurance but if you are traveling to Costa Rica and are not yet vaccinated travel insurance is a requirement. Trawick International Plans that Comply with Costa Rica Travel Regulations
Safe Travels Voyager plan is available to US Citizens and US Residents traveling to Costa Rica from the USA and can be purchased for trip costs up to $100,000. It includes $250,000 of Primary Medical Coverage and Trip Delay of $2,000 for quarantine accommodations/lodging expenses. Optional Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage is also available and provides reimbursement for 75% of the prepaid, non-refundable, forfeited payments you paid for your trip if you cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this policy. Must be purchased with the initial policy and within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date, and your full, nonrefundable trip cost must be insured. Coverage up to 180 days.
Safe Travels Explorer plan is available to US Citizens and US Residents traveling to Costa Rica from the USA. This is a basic plan that covers trip costs up to $100,000, $50,000 of medical, and $2,000 for quarantine accommodations/lodging expenses. Coverage up to 60 days.
Safe Travels Outbound plan Safe Travels Outbound is a primary temporary travel medical plan for US Citizens and US Residents. It includes $50,000 minimum medical, and Trip Delay of $2,000 for quarantine accommodations/lodging expenses, emergency medical evacuation, repatriation, and security evacuation and is for those traveling outside the United States. Minimum 5 days of coverage - up to 180 days.
Safe Travels International Cost Saver is a plan for persons traveling to Costa Rica from countries other than the USA. This plan includes $50,000 of Primary Medical Coverage and Trip Delay of $2,000 for quarantine accommodations/lodging expenses.

CDC Requirements to Re-Enter the United States
Effective January 26, 2021, all travelers flying into the United States will need to show a negative COVID-19 test before entering the country. Airlines will be responsible for confirming the negative test results for all passengers before they board a flight to the United States. The cost of this mandatory test is not a covered benefit under any of our travel insurance plans. If someone doesn’t receive the test results in time, this would not be a covered travel delay/trip interruption benefit. In the event someone has a positive test, there could be coverage for travel delays for additional accommodations due to quarantine.

The Safe Travels Voyager is designed for those who are looking for the highest available benefit limits to protect your trip. This plan covers trips up to $100,000 for trip cancellation and includes a $250,000 per person limit Primary Medical Coverage with coverage for Pre-Existing Medical conditions on plans purchased prior to or with final trip payment. Includes minimum coverage of $2,000 for potential accommodations/lodging expenses. COVID-19 MEDICAL EXPENSES may be covered and treated the same as any other sickness. Meets Costa Rica Travel Insurance Requirements.
The Optional Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) provides reimbursement for 75% of the prepaid, non-refundable, forfeited payments you paid for your trip if you cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this policy. Must be purchased with the initial policy and within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date, and the full, nonrefundable trip cost is insured. To qualify for the CFAR benefit, you must insure your entire trip cost. To use the CFAR option when canceling your trip, you must cancel your trip in its entirety, at least 2 days prior to your scheduled departure date.

Upon purchase, you will receive a visa letter that you can upload using this link - https://salud.go.cr - to the Costa Rica Health Pass website and complete the required paperwork to get your QR code to show airport authorities upon arrival to Costa Rica.
