Travel Insurance for the UK

Is travel insurance required to enter the United Kingdom?

International travelers do not have to provide travel insurance to enter the United Kingdom, which consists of England, Scotland, and Wales.  The Gov.UK website states that international travelers have to follow some travel regulations when entering the United Kingdom.  To protect the population from the COVID-19 virus, the United Kingdom has implemented a system to check where travelers have come from. When you arrive, the rules for testing and quarantine are different for each color designated country you have arrived from.

Why should you buy Travel Insurance to visit the United Kingdom?

We highly recommend that anyone traveling to the United Kingdom purchase a trip cancellation policy with trip delay and interruption coverage.  You never know what could go wrong when traveling, so you should buy a trip cancellation plan to protect your investment in your trip for a fraction of your trip cost.  On select trip cancellations plans, we offer the hard-to-find Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) benefit.

Do the trip cancellation plans from Trawick International cover COVID-19?

Yes, our plans treat COVID-19 like any other sickness. To learn more about how Trawick International travel insurance plans provide coverage for Covid-19 related concerns, please visit our COVID-19 FAQ webpage.

Optional Cancel for Any Reason coverage:

On select trip cancellation plans, Trawick International offers the hard to find Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) benefit that provides reimbursement for 75% of the prepaid, nonrefundable, forfeited payments you paid for your trip if you cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this policy - like border closures or travel bans.  This coverage MUST be purchased with the initial policy and within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date, and the full, nonrefundable trip cost is insured. (This benefit is not available in every US state).

How much does travel insurance cost?

Travel insurance cost is based on your age, trip cost, length of trip, and other factors. When purchasing a plan with trip cancellation, you should include all non-refundable travel expenses so you can recover the investment in the event your trip is canceled or interrupted.

When should I buy travel insurance?

Suppose you are interested in adding the CFAR benefit to your trip cancellation plan. In that case, you must purchase your insurance for your trip within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date and include all prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs.  You can still purchase travel insurance after 21 days, but you may not be eligible for time-sensitive benefits.

Does this plan cover mandatory COVID testing to reenter the USA?

Effective January 26, 2021, all travelers flying into the United States will need to show a negative COVID-19 test before reentering the country. Airlines will be responsible for confirming the negative test results for all passengers before they board a flight to the United States. The cost of this mandatory test is not a covered benefit under any of our travel insurance plans. If a traveler does not receive the test results in time, this would not be a covered travel delay/trip interruption benefit.  Travelers need to make sure to plan accordingly to make sure their results will be received before their flights are scheduled to depart.  In the event someone has a positive test, there could be travel delay coverage available to cover costs for additional accommodations due to quarantine.
