Honeymoon Travel Insurance

Insuring Your Honeymoon

It’s finally here you and your loved one have made the big decision to get married.  We know wedding planning can sometimes be challenging, but choosing where to go on your honeymoon shouldn’t be.  Your honeymoon is the perfect time to take that dream vacation you and your significant other have always discussed.   Some couples choose a leisure vacation and choose a tropical destination to relax and enjoy the beach and other honeymooners prefer a little more adventure and book African safaris.  Regardless of the type of honeymoon you are taking, you should make sure you find out all the necessary information you need to travel in this COVID-19 world.

Is travel insurance a requirement for your honeymoon destination?

Depending on what country that you are planning on traveling to for your honeymoon travel insurance might be a requirement.  If you are planning to visit one of these popular countries for your honeymoon you will need to purchase a travel insurance policy that complies with their regulations:

  • Anguilla
  • Aruba
  • Bahamas
  • Brazil
  • Costa Rica
  • Ecuador
  • Egypt
  • French Polynesia
  • Jamaica
  • Japan
  • St. Maarten
  • Tahiti
  • Thailand
  • Turks and Caicos

Even if the country you are going to visit does not require travel insurance, we recommend that you purchase a travel insurance plan to protect your investment in your trip because you never know when an unforeseen circumstance can occur and affect your travel plans.

Why should you buy travel insurance for your honeymoon?

A honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime excursion with your partner. These vacations tend to be expensive depending on the destination and activities you plan on doing while on your trip. Travel Insurance protects your investment in your honeymoon and protects you from unforeseen events that can disrupt your trip.  For example, if you have to cancel your honeymoon because of a sickness or injury, a family member's death, or if a natural disaster happens at your destination, your insurance policy would reimburse you for your prepaid expenses.

What type of travel insurance should you purchase for your honeymoon?

The most comprehensive travel insurance plans include Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Trip Delay, Primary Emergency Medical coverage, and Medical Evacuation coverage. Trawick International is one of the few travel insurance providers that treats COVID-19 the same as any other sickness.

We also offer the hard-to-find and rarely available Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) option. CFAR provides reimbursement for up to 75% of the prepaid, non-refundable, forfeited payments you paid for your trip if you cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this policy up to two days before your trip is to begin. CFAR must be purchased with the initial policy and within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date, and the full, nonrefundable trip cost is insured. This option is not available in all states.

For example, if you booked your honeymoon and didn’t get married or just didn't feel comfortable traveling and wanted to cancel the trip, the CFAR benefit would reimburse you 75% of prepaid expenses as long you cancel two days before your trip.

When should you buy travel insurance?

To maximize your benefits, you should insure your trip within 21 days of the initial trip deposit, and include all prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs. You can still purchase travel insurance after the 21 day period but you may not be eligible for time-sensitive benefits such as Cancel For Any Reason or Financial Default.

How much does travel insurance cost?

Our pricing is customized to each travelers trip. Pricing is based on the trip cost, age of the traveler, destination, and trip duration. To see how much your travel insurance will cost, click on the "Get a Quote" button below.  Please make sure to include all prepaid, non-refundable travel expenses so in the event your trip is canceled or interrupted for a covered reason you can recoup your losses.

How will we receive proof of insurance?

After purchase, a letter and certificate of coverage will be sent to the email address provided on your travel insurance application. This documentation confirms you have travel insurance.  The letter will include the summary of coverage showing proof of coverage. This information is also accessible on the Trawick International app.

Does this plan cover mandatory COVID testing to reenter the USA?

Effective January 26, 2021, all travelers flying into the United States will need to show a negative COVID-19 test before re-entering the country. Airlines will be responsible for confirming the negative test results for all passengers before they board a flight to the United States. The cost of this mandatory test is not a covered benefit under any of our travel insurance plans. If a traveler does not receive the test results in time, this would not be a covered travel delay/trip interruption benefit.  Travelers need to make sure to plan accordingly to make sure their results will be received before their flights are scheduled to depart. In the event someone has a positive test, there could be travel delay coverage available to cover costs for additional accommodations due to quarantine.
